The UK Government has introduced a requirement for voters to show photo ID when voting at a polling station. This will apply to local elections, police and crime commissioner elections, UK parliamentary by[1]elections and recall petitions from Thursday 4th May 2023 and General Elections from October 2023. Forms of photo ID that will be accepted include passport, driving license (including provisional license), blue badge, certain concessionary travel cards, identity cards with PASS mark, biometric immigration document, defence identity card and certain national identity cards. For more information on which forms of photo ID will be accepted, visit the electoral commission website or call 0800 328 0280.
If you don’t already have an accepted form of photo ID, you can apply for a free voter ID document known as a Voter Authority Certificate, online or by completing a paper application form and submitting this to the Electoral Services Team at Bradford Council. Request a form by emailing or call 01274 432287.
