Supporting you to walk and cycle more for your everyday journeys. The Bradford Active Travel Hub offers cycling lessons, bike maintenance and training, walking resources and lots more. Bradford Active Travel Hub is a Bradford Trident project supported by the City Connect Community Hubs funding.

Bike Repairs

At the Bradford Active Travel Hub we have cycle mechanics who can guide you through a repair and help you maintain your bike. If your bike has been gathering dust in the shed for a while and needs a check over. Take a look at Sustrans M Check or bring it in to us. We are open Monday evenings 3-7pm and Thursdays 10.30-3.30pm for bike repairs. If you are interested in volunteering to assist with cycle repairs, please get in touch.

Cycling Lessons

Free adult cycling lessons are available in partnership with Capital of Cycling. Run by accredited cycling instructors, these sessions are perfect for those completely new to cycling, people who want a refresher and those who wish to gain confidence cycling on the roads.

There are 4 levels of cycle lessons

Level 0- complete beginners in a traffic free environment

Level 1- those who can ride a bike, but would like to gain confidence riding in a traffic free environment

Level 1.5 and 2 Riding on cycle paths and quiet roads

We run cycle lessons at Bowling Park and Parkside Sports Centre on Mondays 1-3pm and Fridays 9-11am, please email Julia@bradfordtrident.co.uk or message Julia 07939 965404 to book your place.

Ebike Loans Coming Soon!

Have you thought about buying an e-bike, but you’re not sure if it’s right for you? We will shortly be making our ebikes available for loan. The booking system is currently under development. For more information and to register your interest, email julia@bradfordtrident.co.uk.

Walking

Interested in walking ? We can help with guidance on walking routes and groups locally and in the district. If you have a few like-minded people you would like to walk regularly with, then Julia can help you set up a walking group.

Walking Buses to Schools

We are here to help schools with the development of Walking Buses. If you represent a school and/or are a parent concerned about road safety, and the health of children and want to improve air quality in your neighbourhood, then get in touch with Julia our Hub Officer. We can help you with the development of a walking bus with guidance, training, volunteer recruitment and insurance to ensure that what you put in place is sustainable and lasts for years to come.

Journey Planning

We can help you plan your cycling journey to choose the best route for your cycling ability.

Cycle Streets website and App is a fantastic free resource which allows you to select the fastest route, quietest route or a balance of these.

Running

Are you interested in trying out running? Couch to 5k can help you to gradually improve your fitness.
Or come along to park run at Bowling Park or Horton Park Saturdays at 9am. It’s free and it’s fine to walk if you’re not quite ready to run.

Opening Hours

The Hub is open– Monday through Thursday, and the occasional Saturday. We are based at MAPA, 1 Coates Street, BD5 7DL, behind Newby Primary School by the red bridge.

Cycle parking is available at the Bradford Active Travel Hub. Bikes may be brought inside.
